The extermination of his clan by his own brother leads to the fact that his appearance from then on seems extremely cold and closed, he has only one goal from now on: to take revenge on Itachi Uchiha.

He became a member of Team 7, during which time he developed a rivalry with his teammate and later best friend Naruto Uzumaki. He breaks his ties with Konoha and leaves the village to become stronger. After learning the truth about his brother, his hatred is now directed towards Konoha. Later, he is instrumental in ending the Fourth Ninja World War.

After his last confrontation with Naruto, Sasuke abandons his hatred and rejoins Konoha. Some time later he meets Sakura Haruno and has a child with her named Sarada.

Appearance

Before the time jump

Sasuke appearance in the Fourth Ninja World War.
Sasuke Uchiha has black hair that he wears in a long spiky hairstyle that frames his face and reaches his neck. As a child, he wore black and blue tops with the insignia of the Uchiha clan on the back.

Later as a genin, he wears a blue t-shirt with a high collar, along with white pants and white arm warmers that reach just below his elbow.

His calves are bandaged and on his feet he wears typical blue ninja sandals. On his head he wears the forehead protector of Konohagakure with blue ribbon. Later, at the Chūnin selection trials, he wears a black full-body suit with elbow bandages.

After the time jump

After going to Orochimaru, he changes his clothes again. He now wears the clothing of Otogakure’s elite, as it is also known among the Quintet. Around his hips he wears a dark blue cloth held together by a thick purple cord. On his upper body he wears a wide kimono, which is open to his belly. Should he enter the second stage of the juin, the upper part hangs down loosely, preventing his clothing from being destroyed by the wings.

On his arms, he wears arm warmers that extend over the back of his hands. After the creation of Team Hebi, Sasuke wears a gray cloak when traveling. When fighting Itachi, he wears a dark gray sleeveless top.In addition, Sasuke shows a new development of sigils, which he has attached to his forearms as beige (purple in the anime) bracelets. He can summon all sorts of shuriken from them.

After the fight, Sasuke changes his top again. He now wears a white and gray short-sleeved shirt with a high collar and zipper, and blue arm warmers on his arms. In addition, his hairstyle is slightly changed. He now lets his hair fall on his forehead in the front.

While cooperating with Akatsuki, he wears their coat over his normal clothes. In the Fourth Ninja World War, Sasuke awakens the Rinnegan in his left eye, which is purple with three tomoe on each of the inner two circles. He cannot reactivate the Rinnegan. In the final battle against Naruto, Sasuke loses his left arm.

A few years later, during the events of Sasuke Shinden – Book of Sunrise, his hair covers parts of the left side of his face. He wears a black suit, with a white belt and a black cape over it. His calves are wrapped in bandages up to his knees.

In the epilogue
15 years after the war, Sasuke wears his hair a little longer; it is straighter and tends to run spiky at the ends. The left side of his face continues to be covered by his hair.

Now Sasuke wears a black coat with purple lining and a gray, long-sleeved collared shirt over which he wears a lavender vest. He also wears black pants, a purple belt on his right hand a dark gray fingerless glove and long black sandals. He wears his forehead protector again, this one

Juinka – Ten no Juin
After Sasuke is infected with the Ten no Juin (天の呪印, “Curse Seal of Heaven”) by Orochimaru in the Forest of Death, Sasuke is able to perform a Juinka (呪印化, “Curse Seal Transformation”).

In the first stage, the pattern of Juin spreads over part of his body starting from the bite site, the degree of spread is variable. In the second stage, Sasuke transforms completely: his skin darkens and takes on a grayish-brown hue, his sclera turns black, and a black cross tapered at the end forms on the bridge of his nose.

In addition, his hair grows longer and turns ash-gray, and his fingernails grow longer and more pointed. Furthermore, a pair of skin-like and hand-shaped wings grows out of his back. During the fight against his brother, the latter removed the curse seal from Sasuke, since then Sasuke is no longer able to transform himself.

Personality

Originally, Sasuke was a bright, enthusiastic and extremely ambitious child who longed to follow in his brother’s footsteps and be recognized by his father. He tried to meet the high expectations placed on him because of his background by working hard and proving his intelligence at the ninja academy.

However, after the murder of his clan and the apparent betrayal of Itachi, Sasuke changed in a way that was not conducive to growing up carefree.

Driven by grief for his family and the hatred Itachi’s behavior aroused in him, his ambition increased to an unhealthy degree that simultaneously created a sore spot in him to feel affected or react aggressively in the event of perceived inferiority.

Sasukes shed tears for Itachi

Emulating his brother was no longer a childish desire, but a round-the-clock desire that would result in becoming stronger than Itachi and killing him, which shaped his character in the form of vindictiveness.

In addition, since then he was characterized by a great distrust of other people, which ultimately made him a closed and aloof boy, also because he felt as if he was different from others his age and already isolated from them by nature.

As Sasuke proves in his very first fight as a member of Team 7, he has great talent, good intuition, above-average intelligence and enough will to work on himself to the limit of pain. All this contributes to the building of an extremely great self-confidence, which can be shaken only by defeats, but only for a short time and never permanently.

However, this quality, as well as blind rage and impulsiveness that overcomes him in certain cases, sometimes leads him to overestimate his own abilities.

Despite, or perhaps because, he has lost his closest relatives, Sasuke can be a very loyal friend once he has taken someone to his heart and allowed that bond to form.

The desire for revenge and the experience of inferiority that drives him nearly insane override this bond of friendship. Nevertheless, Sasuke, apart from his desire for revenge, still possesses a moral compass, so he detests Orochimaru for his experiments with human lives.

In addition, he refuses to discard any humanity: he spares already defeated opponents instead of killing them.

Sasuke’s dark side

However, his character changes once again when he manages to kill Itachi, but subsequently learns the truth about his brother’s life. After the last tears shed for the fate of his destroyed family, he closes his feelings deep inside to irrationally indulge in his habituation of hatred and thirst for revenge.

He has lived with his deep aversion for so long and has built up extremely many obstacles that make a return to the old life seem impossible, that he does not even consider any other way.

However, at the time of the fight against the Hachibi, his teammates still seem to be important to him. When he realizes the sacrifice his team has made for him and is willing to make for him, he uses Amaterasu for the first time. He also does not want to leave Karin to her fate, but to save her life at any cost.

Gokage Kaidan Sasuke

At the Gokage Kaidan, however, Karin notices that Sasuke’s chakra has changed: It is now darker and colder. He is now completely ruthless.

In the past, he refused to kill unnecessarily, but now he kills one opponent after another. Pure egoism becomes his means to an end. He no longer takes his team members into consideration, but only has his goal in mind.

He no longer lets anyone share what is really going on inside him and sacrifices everything that no longer benefits him without batting an eye – even those who really care about him. Interpersonal relationships have completely lost their appeal for him.

Itachi, revived by Edo Tensei, Sasuke

Even the meeting with Itachi, revived by Edo Tensei, who once again conveys to him the circumstances regarding the murder of the clan, does not change much Sasuke’s personal attitude. Although he abandons his plan of wild frenzy, he replaces it with one that is not much less violent but seems more rational, which he keeps to himself for the time being.

For the achievement of his goal he has already done everything that was necessary in the past, even if it actually violates his basic principles. Thus, false pride is not one of his traits, as he even cooperates with the ninja alliance and his actual enemies to move forward.

Sasuke shares his food with a cat

He shows indifference to their opinion on this, as he has always done since he left Konoha. So he sets his priorities purposefully and doesn’t let them distract or unsettle him from anything or anyone. After the conversation with his brother, who assured him of his eternal love, Sasuke builds up a new form of self-confidence, which manifests itself in the fact that no word or behavior from outside influences him in a negative way anymore.

So, from this point of view, he no longer seems to have the sore spot of that time. He also does not care about courtesies towards his fellow men, because he does not consider them as something essential or even necessary. In the past, he didn’t care much about hurting the feelings of others either, but his dismissive and rude behavior reaches a new dimension once again.

Later, it becomes apparent that he is still guided by the experience of hatred that has shaped him so much, but wants to use it for something useful in his eyes and not for bloody revenge.

His gaze has turned away from the narrow circle of his clan’s fate and toward the overall situation of the ninja world, which, despite his obviously violent plan, is a sign of maturity as he makes a kind of peace with the past in his own way.

Sasuke with Sakura

Only Kakashi‘s reminder that Sakura’s love for him needs no reason evokes a bitter-tinged memory of a happy family life.

After his third fight against Naruto, he admits defeat for the first time. In the conversation that follows, it becomes clear that he is abandoning his unyielding, hate-filled attitude and beginning to open up to other feelings.

He now reflects on himself and his past, and his emphatic side also emerges. He slowly becomes a more positive and responsible person. He rediscovers his passion, also his gentle and compassionate nature now partially emerges.

Sasuke’s Relationships

Sasuke’s Relationship with Itachi

Sasuke and Itachi

Sasuke was always the one who wanted to play or train with his brother, but the latter had other things to deal with, which is why he always tapped Sasuke on the forehead and said “Forgive me Sasuke.

Some other time.” Still, Sasuke loved his big brother very much and always looked up to him. Itachi was also very caring and even wanted to skip an important mission to accompany Sasuke to his school enrollment. But as time went by, Itachi isolated himself more and more from the clan. Sasuke also noticed his brother’s strange behavior.

This culminated when three members of the Konoha police suspected Itachi of murdering Shisui, and Itachi attacked and easily defeated the three.

Only by Sasuke worse could be prevented. After the massacre of the entire clan at the hands of Itachi, the latter incited Sasuke against himself so that he would have more rage in him to obtain the strongest Sharingan. Sasuke has been extremely shaped by this experience and therefore has trained day and night to defeat his brother.

Itachi was not the best brother sometimes…

Despite all his efforts, he fails to do so at their first reunion. After two and a half years, Sasuke, who has become much stronger, seeks out his brother. This suited Itachi just fine, as he is now nearly blinded by the use of the Mangekyō Sharingan and now seeks Sasuke’s eyes.

In a long and hard fight to kill. But afterwards he learns from Tobi the bitter truth about Itachi, who killed his clan on behalf of the superiors of Konoha to protect the village and especially Sasuke.

It also turns out that Itachi never intended to kill Sasuke in the previous fight, but only pretended to desire his eyes. Itachi cornered Sasuke in order to drive out Orochimaru and free his little brother from Juin. With the latter’s death, Itachi intended for Sasuke to awaken the Mangekyō Sharingan.

When Itachi is discovered as an Edo Tensei victim by Sasuke, Sasuke pursues him, having questions for him. However, his brother is limited by the Kotoamatsukami and does not give conclusive answers.

When both end up at Kabuto, they team up to be able to stop Edo Tensei. After Itachi educates Sasuke on the workings of the Izanami jutsu and gives him his perspective on the events surrounding the murder of the Uchiha clan, he says goodbye by placing his forehead against his younger brother’s and promising to always love him no matter what.

Sasuke’s Relationship with Naruto Uzumaki

Sasuke and Naruto as kids

Even during their time at the academy, the two often clashed. Despite their similar fate, both found no connection to each other. In addition, Sasuke was already extremely talented at a young age, which leads to the fact that Naruto challenged him again and again.

Rivalry between Naruto and Sasuke

However, he lost every time and was accordingly envious of Sasuke. However, this also spurred him on and he chose the young Uchiha as his rival.

Sasuke, in turn, was annoyed by this and developed a drastic dislike for Naruto. Nevertheless, Naruto made repeated attempts to befriend Sasuke, but they were always unsuccessful. Despite his cold nature, he could secretly feel Naruto’s pain and suffering, which he had to suffer as an orphan. When Sakura made fun of Naruto’s childhood after the formation of Team 7, Sasuke took it in his stride, as he could well understand Naruto’s feelings.

Sasuke helping Naruto

Naruto and Sasuke as teammates

Sasuke stoically and emotionlessly accepts the information that he will henceforth be on a team with Naruto, while the latter gets loudly upset. However, he generally considers the need for teams annoying and a hindrance to his goals.

However, he also shows appreciation for Naruto when he has an imaginative plan. He accepts Naruto as a teammate, which can be seen by the fact that he shares his food with him, even though Kakashi expressly forbids them to do so.

Over time, the relationship between the two improves, so that Sasuke once also begins to respect Naruto. During the fight against Haku, Sasuke stands protectively in front of Naruto and suffers serious injuries. He justifies this with the fact that his body moved by itself.

Chunin selection period

During the intermediate exams of the Chūnin selection process, Sasuke recognizes Naruto as an equal opponent for the first time. Sasuke often calls Naruto Usuratonkachi (ウスラトンカチ, this roughly translates to “idiot” or “failure”) since the academy and especially during his time with Team 7, this is meant to be polemical on one hand, but on the other hand it is also a sign of acceptance towards Naruto.

Competition starts to heat up

But when Sasuke realizes that Naruto is getting closer and closer to his own power, this relationship seems to break, which is why it finally even comes to a fight. Afterwards, however, Sasuke realizes that he is apparently no longer a match for Naruto.

Sasuke excuses Naruto

Thus he accepts the offer of the Oto-Quartet and lets himself be brought to Otogakure. Naruto manages to catch up with Sasuke and they have a hard fight, during which Sasuke admits that Naruto has become his best friend.

He also mentions that two high class shinobi could understand each other in battle without words. Their two final attacks, Rasengan and Chidori, clash with full force, Sasuke manages to gain the upper hand, but he spares Naruto, who has fainted, and goes to Orochimaru.

Both face each other as first class shinobi

After two and a half years of training, Naruto meets Sasuke again. However, Sasuke has increased his power enormously. This time he does not want to spare him and sets out to kill Naruto.

He is stopped in the process by Sai and Yamato. He manages to penetrate Naruto’s subconscious and come face to face with the Kyūbi. Naruto once again fails to bring him back.

Shortly after Sasuke murders Danzō, the two meet again. Again they attack each other with Chidori and Rasengan. Since they have now become high-class shinobi, they meet again on a mental level.

Their relationship changed

Sasuke is convinced that it must end with the death of one of them, but Naruto believes that there must be another solution. Sasuke then recognizes Naruto as an equal opponent.

It later becomes clear that their conflict has a larger dimension: as a member of the Uchiha clan and incarnation of the elder son of the Rikudō Sennin, Sasuke’s destiny is to fight the descendants of the younger son, the Senju clan.

Naruto, on the other hand, is the incarnation of Ashura and has made it his mission to fight the hateful Sasuke with his pure, loving heart. Both are connected by the Rikudō Sennin. Sasuke draws his power from the Nikushimi no Noroi (憎しみの呪い, “Curse of Hate”), while Naruto carries the Hi no Ishi (火の意志, “Will of Fire”).

Naruto is aware that he is the only one who can bear Sasuke’s hatred and is ready to die together with him in a battle.
